Thinking about High School Musical

For The Kids!!
Do you have a secret passion for something you enjoy doing
but are afraid to tell people because of what they might think?

Troy was known as “the basketball boy” and
Gabriella wanted to change her “brainy girl” image at her new school.
What are you known for at school?
Is there anything you would like to change about your image at school?

Have you put down a friend in front of others?
If a friend hurt you with something they said or did how would you feel?
Would you still be their friend if they said they were sorry?

For The Grownups!!

Belonging is important but so is being true to yourself.
Are you afraid of what other people might think of
Your friends? … Your family? … What you do? … Your beliefs?

Zeak said friends should be “boosting you up not tearing you down”.
What other qualities do true friends have? What kind of friend are you?

“I want to see my son having the time off his life”.
Parents, are you proud off your children when they try their hardest?
Do you have expectations which might be beyond your children’s ability?

Take a chance and try something new.
Being part of a team or activity is great
but it should not rule your life.

Thinking about Racing Stripes

For The Kids!!

This film is about animals. Do you have any animals?
How do you treat them?

How hard is it to be nice to someone
who is different from you and your friends?

Would you like to have friends who treat others like the racehorses treated Stripes? How would you feel about that?

Tucker said “nothing good ever comes easy”.
Do you work hard on the things you are good at?

Do you thank those who help you with things:
people like your coach, teacher, friends or parents?

For The Grownups!!
What are some things that make it difficult
to accept people who are different from us?

“Actions speak louder than words”.
Who do you know, like Tucker, works tirelessly
behind the scenes with little or no thanks?

Do you have a natural ability?
Do you put in the necessary work and training
to make the best use of that talent?

Are you gracious in both victory and defeat?
Do you know people who boast when they win
or make excuses when they loose?
How do they make you feel?

Thinking about Nanny McPhee

For The Kids!!
What five lessons would you try
and teach someone?

Do you find any of these things hard yourself? What could you do to try and be better at them?

Simon had to accept the consequences of his own actions. Try and remember that the things we do effect other people; sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way …
Let’s try and make it all good.

For The Grownups!!
Mr Brown needed to learn to listen to his children … do you always find time to listen
to the children you love?

Can you think of ways to create opportunities
to keep communicating with your children?
